On Wednesday April 10th, Matimex was invited to Master’s Degree in Energy Efficiency and Bioclimatic Architecture by Miguel Ángel Díaz Camacho, president of ASA, Association Sustainability Architecture. The Master’s Degree shows to its students the multiple strategies that are currently being undertaken in sustainability in the field of architecture, and the most innovative materials which contribute for this purpose. That is why, Ramón Carneros, Commercial Director of Matimex, presented during the talk, the Eco-Active materials available in the market, like the revolutionary photocatalytic application Active Clean Air & Antibacterial Ceramic™.A photocatalytic material, in this case, titanium dioxide (Tio2) which, applied at approximately 700ºC and micrometrically on tile products, provides three interesting properties with regard to conventional tile materials: Anti-polluting, Bactericide and Self-cleaning.Beneficial effects of this photocatalytic ceramic have been certified by ISO international standards, by Tile Council of North America (TCNA) and by Centro Ceramico di Bologna (CCB) in a special program of research and testing carried out jointly. The talk covered from technical aspects, such as ACTIVE functioning, to environmental issues, as its contribution in degradation of NOx (nitrogen oxides) from polluted air.The presentation was followed carefully by post graduated students, who showed a great interest and did not miss the opportunity to ask interesting questions in the last minutes.
